Shoe Cleaning FAQ
How often should I clean and polish my shoes? What can I do about a shoe polish stain? Here you will find a simple shoe cleaning FAQ, answering the most important questions about shoe care.
How do I clean my shoes?
Regularly brush away any surface dirt with a clean soft brush. There are also speciality brushes, such as a suede brush, that can be used on specific materials and are a valuable addition to anyone's shoe care arsenal. If the brush hasn't been used for a long time, clean it with a damp cloth and a very mild soap.
Make sure your shoes are completely dry before polishing them and wipe them down with a dry soft cloth to remove any surface dirt.

We hope you are enjoying the school holidays. At SoleLution we appreciate that shopping for correctly fitting school shoes can be a laborious task, but it is essential, so here are some tips to help make your shopping for school shoes experience a little less painful:
1. Book an appointment or be prepared to wait! August and September are some of the busiest months for those selling children’s shoes but first thing in the morning and late afternoon tend to be a bit quieter. We pride ourselves on giving each customer the best service we can, and that includes those in front of you. Last year we introduced an appointment system, which was so loved by customers as it made the "whole experience quicker and so much more stress free" and so are continuing with it this year. Did you know that our feet will carry us 4 times around the world during our lifetime? And that a child's feet produce around half a pint of sweat each day? Feet are being shaped as soon as the baby starts its development, so it's no surprise that the first few months and years are critical to your child's feet development. To help you with this, we have created an Infographic that summarises the 6 development stages of feet.
Baby feet grow three sizes in his or her first year (around 2.5cm). Their feet haven't grown bones yet. It's all made out of cartilage. I rarely meet a customer who believes their feet are “normal”. But what is “normal” where feet are concerned? In my experience “normal” doesn’t exist. Each and every one of us is different and so are our feet.

You may have other conditions that impact the footwear you wear – one foot a different size to the other, bunions, hammer toes, plantar fasciitis, knee, hip and back problems, diabetes - to name a few. This may make you feel that you cannot wear the shoes, sandals and boots, that make you feel like you.
The shoes that you wear can make you feel confident or inadequate; they can enable you to do a certain functio

24th April 2021 - SoleLution Shops ARE NOW OPEN!
I have to apologise as I am 10 days late in updating this blog. WE ARE NOW OPEN! Your support has been phenominal and as such we have been (very happily) rushed off our feet, finding you all the right shoes for your soles.
I cannot thank you enough for the support our customers have given us during lockdown, and although Sarah and I have loved coming to visit you on your doorsteps, I am even happier to have you back in store where you are able to browse all that we have to offer - and there are some lovely shoes, sandals and canvas for ladies, gents and children this season.
As before, we are continuing to ensure that we remain COVID secure in store and appreciate your patience and cooperation. We are cleaning each seating area between customers including our fitting screens, santising and washing our hands, sanitising shoes after they have been tried on and have screens at the till.

At SoleLution, we have spent the time adapting to this new way of life. Solelution.co.uk is open and taking orders, which we are hand delivering, contactlessly of course, for our local customers in Portishead and Clifton, and using a courier for all other deliveries.
However, we appreciate that for children in particular, we also need to continue to provide our specialist advice to ensure the shoes you are purchasing are fitting as best they can. We have therefore adapted our shoe fitting service so it is now virtual – thank goodness for video calling, digital photographs and emails! I hope you can appreciate that this is a whole new way of working for us fitting childrens shoes, but I assure you that SoleLution will do our best.
As in store, we are happy to have a conversation with you, over a video call, w
